Check Your NPI for CMS Requirements
Know Your Status. Capture the Right Data. Report with Confidence.
You may have been told that you don’t have to participate in MIPS—or that you are completely excluded from MIPS reporting and payment adjustments.
That may be true. But MIPS eligibility isn’t always that simple.
Your participation status can depend on several factors, including:
- Your individual Medicare volume
- Your practice's Medicare volume
- Whether you participate individually or as part of a group
- Your clinician type
- When you enrolled in Medicare
- Participation in an Alternative Payment Model (APM)
- Special statuses and other CMS eligibility rules
A provider who isn’t required to report individually may still be part of a practice that participates and reports as a group.
Don't Guess. Ask CMS.
CMS provides a simple online tool that lets you enter your 10-digit NPI and see your Quality Payment Program participation status.

Once you know your status, CHS can help you understand the next step.
If MIPS reporting applies to you or your practice, we’ll help identify the appropriate measures, build the required data capture into your personalized UnifiMD workflow, monitor your progress through easy-to-use dashboards, and work with MRO to support reporting to CMS.
